ISLAMIC, 'Abbasid Caliphate. temp. Al-Mansur, AH 136-158 / AD 754-775. Drachm (Silver, 33 mm, 3.55 g, 4 h), Arab-Sasanian type, Eastern Sistan (Sijistan). Jannah, probably AD 760s. Draped bust resembling Khosrau II to right, wearing elaborate mural crown; behind head, ‘GDE ʾp̄zwt’ (‘[may his] glory increase’ in Pahlavi); before head, ‘hwslwb’, i.e. ‘Husraw’ (‘Khosrau’ in Pahlavi); in outer margin, ‘Jannāḥ ˗ bism Allāh ˗ rabbī’ (‘Jannah. In the name of Allah, my Lord’ in Arabic). Rev. Fire altar with ribbons, flanked by two attendants; to left, pseudo date in Pahlavi; to right, SK (abbreviation for the name of the mint in Pahlavi). Album 81. Zeno-201015 (this coin). Rare and darkly toned. Slightly rough, otherwise, very fine.
